what is Insulation?: substance which can ‘resist’ transferring heat (or cold) through it. In building construction, insulation is used to allow the internal temperature to remain constant, independently of external temperature changes. This is signifantly enhanced through the thermal inertia delivered by the THERMOMASS system. It allows the inside to become a more ‘pleasant’ place to live and work, and it helps reduce heating and cooling costs; which in turn means your building is more ecologically friendly, as you are consuming less environmental resources. The Thermomass Building Insulation System combines with the structural integrity of concrete to produce a safe, highly energy efficient concrete panel insulation system.
THERMOMASS components Fiber-reinforced composite connectors. The connectors are alternatives to cast-in-place steel anchors, are non-corrosive, chemically resistant and have low thermal conductivity with unsurpassed structural strength. Dow brand closed cell Styrofoam® extruded polystyrene insulation resists all forms of water penetration including water vapour transmission. Styrofoam® has high thermal resistance and high compressive strength.
THERMOMASS provides consistent thermal control, impedes mould growth and is highly durable and can contribute to the achievement of Green Star credit points.
The THERMOMASS composite CONCRETE/STYROFOAM/CONCRETE wall has the insulating qualities of concrete more than 1 metre thick. This is substantially better than all other competing systems.

This year there are hopefully going to be loads of changes and I’m really excited about it.. I found your post while researching for a new project I’m doing. I think it will have some possitive influences on Design and Energy effiency. Greener living should prove to be popular if we can make it aesthetically better than current sollutions. If you have time please check out our site Outdoor Led lighting I hope to start a blog to show some of our projects
