Maximise Sustainability Without Compromising Security

The Hopkins Correctional Centre was a designed with sustainability as a core focus. Design initiatives emphasized sustainability, including a tri-generation plant, a large amount of double-glazing for temperature stability and the careful use of the thermal mass contained within secure facilities.

The THERMOMASS insulation system was the preferred method for insulating the projects vast number of concrete sandwich panels. The THERMOMASS Insulation System allowed architects, Guymer Bailey, to harness the power of concrete’s inherent thermal mass, to enhance the living conditions of the facility whilst ensuring security was maintained as a high priority.
