With existing construction technology in cold storage industries having large risk factors for combustibility, insurance premiums are just one of the many long term costs of building. Precast concrete by it’s nature is non-combustible. Concrete is also a poor insulator and makes a poor choice for temperature sensitive applications such as cold-storage facilities. That is, unless it is insulated from the outside using a system like THERMOMASS. This insulated precast concrete sandwich panel has significantly greater thermal properties than any other building method. The concrete on the interior of the structure provides a high thermal mass, meaning that the energy load needed to cool it is significantly lower. With the insulation on the outside, almost none of the ambient radiant heat can get through – creating a highly energy efficient, non-combustible structure. THERMOMASS Makes Concrete Make Sense.
