When Prime Construction were engaged to build LINFOX’s new Healthcare and Logistics Distribution Centre in Erskine Park, NSW, they were tasked with designing  a world-class cold-storage facility in which many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies would be comfortable storing their products.

However, in order to make an energy efficient, world-class cold-storage facility, you need a world-class insulation system; and so, Prime Construction specified our THERMOMASS concrete precast panel insulation system for use in insulating the distribution centre’s 6500m2 thermal envelope. In doing so, Prime Construction took out the Industrial Buildings, $25 million – $50 million category at the 2014 NSW MBA Excellence in Construction Awards, where judges praised the project’s consistent thermal performance and high level of finish.

Beside the immediately apparent benefits of reduced energy consumption and significantly more stable diurnal swings that comes with using THERMOMASS-insulated sandwich panels, constructing an industrial structure out of precast concrete has other significant advantages. Concrete is durable, concrete is secure, and concrete is fast to construct and erect. When you combine this with the insulative effects of THERMOMASS rigid insulation, you have a an industrial facility that is longer lasting and more secure than typical sheet metal-clad structures, that will maintain its internal storage temperatures at required levels with vastly decreased cooling costs.

Sounds like the smart choice, right? We at definitely think so, and evidently so do LINFOX.
